Vike Reinschell Obituary

Vike L. Reinschell, age 93 of Upper Sandusky, Ohio passed away in his sleep on Monday, May 11, 2020 at 11:59pm at the Wyandot County Skilled Nursing and Rehabilitation Center in Upper Sandusky.

 

Vike was born on August 13, 1926 in New Plymouth, Ohio to Frank and Mary (Warthman) Reinschell, both of whom are deceased.  He married Joan Courtad on May 19, 1951 in Upper Sandusky, and would have celebrated 69 years marriage.  Joan survives in Upper Sandusky.

 

He is also survived by 2 daughters, Debra (Robert) Schroll, and Lisa A. Reinschell.  A son Steve (Lyneen) Reinschell survives along with a grandson Doug (Sarah) Reinschell and 2 great grandchildren, Addison Reinschell and Caine Rupe.

 

Vike is also survived by 2 brothers, Lowell (Ruth Ann) Reinschell and Gary (Judy) Reinschell, and 2 sisters, Carol White and Martha Anthony also survive, along with sister in law Rita Reinschell.

 

He was preceded in death by his parents, 3 brothers Lonzo (Jane) Reinschell, Frank Jr. (Mary) Reinschell, Dean Reinschell, 2 sisters, Anita (Henry) Hatem, Patricia (Maurice) Bowen, 2 brother in laws, Byron White and Richard Anthony.

 

Vike retired after 38 years with the former Ohio Fuel Gas Company/Columbia Gas.  He also owned and operated Reinschell Cabinet Shop and Reinschell Travel Trailers Sales, having operated each company, at various times while still working with the gas company.

 

He was a veteran of the U.S. Army having served in World War II in the Philippines, and coming home and continuing his service with the Ohio National Guard.

 

Vike was a member of the First Lutheran Church in Upper Sandusky.  A member of the Kiwanis Club where he served as president in 1969-70, and Lieutenant Govenor in 1973-74.  He was a life member of the Disabled American Veterans, Warpole Lodge #176 F&AM, and the OES Chapter #366, both in Upper Sandusky. 

 

For hobbies he enjoyed reading history of World War II, hunting pheasant and deer, having gone numerous times with his brothers and nephews to South Dakota to hunt deer.  And following his grandson Doug, during his younger years in sports. 

 

It was Vike’s wish not to have any calling hours or services. He will be interred at a later date at Old Mission Cemetery in Upper Sandusky.

 

Memorial contributions may be made to Angeline Industries or the Actvities Fund of the Wyandot County Skilled Nursing and Rehabilitation Center and can be sent to Lucas-Batton Funeral Home, 476 S. Sandusky Ave. Upper Sandusky Ohio 43351.
