Raymond H. “PeeWee” England, age 77, of Nevada, Ohio, passed away suddenly at this home on Friday, January 27, 2023.
Ray was born in Crawford, Ohio, on September 19, 1945 to the late Francis and Isa Pearl (VanPelt) England. Ray is survived by his wife of 43 years Donna (Leathem) England. They were married on July 16, 1979. Along with his wife, Ray is survived by his children, Paul England of Nevada, Carolyn, Chris, and Summer, all of Richwood, Ohio. Grandchildren, Ian “Stormer” (Jessica) England, Hailee England, and Cheyenne England, and a great grandson, Ezra England.
He is also survived by “Battle Buddy” -Son-at-Heart, Bob Stone, and grandchildren at heart, Breyanna Stone and Gabriella Stone. “His Hero” Stefeni Rowland, “Bestest” Fishing Buddy, Tana Rowland, “Littliest Fishing Buddy” Krista Rowland. Dogs, Charlie Bear and Buddy. As well as many nieces, nephews, and friends he loved dearly.
Ray was preceded in death by his parents, youngest daughter Samantha England, as well as his siblings, Charles, Roy, Lee, Dennis, Larry, Jimmy, Rodger, Vivian, Barbara and Gaynelle.
He was a 1963 graduate of Carey High School. After graduation, Ray joined the United States Navy, where he would serve 3 years, which included a tour in Vietnam. Ray would later go on to follow in his father’s footstep and work at the National Lime and Stone Plant in Carey and retire from there after 37 years. After retirement, he decided he wanted to work part-time and was able to work on the maintenance crew at the Limestone Lake. There he enjoyed drinking coffee with the guys and mowing the lawn.
Ray will be remembered for many things. His love for family and friends. Making everyone feel like family. Enjoying chatting with everyone and cheering on the “Brownies”, Cleveland Browns. His love for Red Sovine music, watching history documentaries and John Wayne movies, fishing, drinking black coffee and eating goulash.
A memorial service for Raymond England will be held at 3:00 pm Friday, February 3, 2023 at the Lucas-Batton Funeral Home in Upper Sandusky with Pastor Steve Sturgeon officiating.
Visitations will be held 2 hours before service time, from 1:00 pm to 3:00 pm at the Lucas-Batton Funeral Home, and the family suggests casual attire for the day.
