Obituary

Michael Raymond Shinsky, age 66, of Sycamore, passed away on Monday, January 2, 2023, at Wyandot Memorial Hospital in Upper Sandusky.

 

Mike was born in Savannah, Georgia, on November 16, 1956, to Leonard and Carol (Sheets) Shinsky, and they preceded him in death. He married Sherrie Staiger on January 13, 1999, in Bucyrus, Ohio, and she survives in Sycamore.

 

Mike is also survived by his 8 children: Jeff Foreman of Elkhart, IN, Jesse (Shelbi) Sanger, David (Sarah) Shinsky of Ellenwood Georgia, Josh (Holly) Shinsky of New Marshfield, OH, Amber (Timothy) Hall of Upper Sandusky, Rusty Shinsky of Sycamore, Heather (Neil) Mosley of Bucyrus, and Nikki ( Jake) Miller of Galion, 11 grandchildren: Makayla Foreman, Christian Foreman, Blake Hall, Braidyn Hall, Mason Mosley, Jordan Hall, Madison Mosley, Andi Rose, Talon Rose, Blake Miller, and Liana Shinsky, and 1 great granddaughter, Aaliyah Whitener. Mike is also survived by his sister Karen (Jerry) Wilson of Sahuarita, AZ, brother Jay Shinsky of Wellington, OH, his father in law and longtime friend Harold (Shirley) Staiger, and several nieces and nephews.

 

Mike was preceded in death by his parents, brother Leonard Shinsky Jr., Sister in law Dawn Shinsky, mother in law Carol Staiger, niece Jamie Norcia, and his best friend Carl Carter.

 

Mike graduated from Keystone High School in 1975 where he also attended JVS where he studied automotive body repair. Mike was a truck driver for most of his career and worked for many companies over the past 25 years, including Averitt, Swift, Schneider, and most recently he drove for Industrial Transport Services.

 

Mike will be remembered for his love of driving truck, his love for going fishing at the lake, his love for anything that went fast – motorcycles, cars, and boats, and playing solitaire on his computer. Mike was a talker and did not know a stranger.

 

A celebration of life will be held at a later date at the lake.

 

Memorial contributions may be made to Lucas-Batton Funeral Home to help the family with funeral expenses and can be sent to Lucas-Batton, 476 S. Sandusky Ave. Upper Sandusky, OH 43351.
