John Kalb Jr. age 89 of Harpster, Ohio passed away on Wednesday, July 29, 2020 at Riverside Methodist Hospital, Columbus, Ohio.
John was born on May 27, 1931 in Marseilles, Ohio to John and Donna (Clark) Kalb both of whom are deceased. He married Myrtle E. (June) Kalb in Angola Indiana on May 14, 1955 and she preceded him in death on September 17, 2012.
John is survived by a son, Steven Mathew (Pam) Kalb of Kenton, Ohio and two daughters, Aakansha Kay (Rajeev) Malhotra of Lewis Center, Ohio and Lisa Jean (Dan) Brodman of Wharton, Ohio, along with ten grandchildren and twelve great grandchildren.
John was preceded in death by his sister, Shirley and brother, Gene.
John worked and retired from Rockwell International in Kenton, Ohio.
John was a member of the Upper Sandusky Church of the Nazarene where he served as Sunday School Superintendent and he was a Sunday school teacher for many years.
John served in the U.S. Navy from 1951-1955 at Florida U.S. Navy Field, Pensacola Florida Saufley Field – during the Korean War and was then in the Navy Reserves from 1955-1959.
John served as lay pastor to the Wyandot County Jail Ministry for 28 years (1991-2019).
For hobbies, John enjoyed fishing, gardening, and studying his Bible.
John will be remembered for his love for family, his enjoyement and relaxation of fishing. John will mostly be remembered for his love and service to his Lord and Savior. He will be greatly missed.
Funeral services for John Kalb Jr. will be held on Wednesday, August 5, 2020 at 11:00am at the Upper Sandusky Church of the Nazarene with Pastor Eric Anderson officiating. Burial will follow at Oak Hill Cemetery where Military Graveside rights will be conducted by the Upper Sandusky Color Guard.
Visitations for John Kalb Jr. will be held on Tuesday, August 4, 2020 from 3:00pm to 7:00pm at the Lucas-Batton Funeral Home in Upper Sandusky, and one hour before the funeral service on Wednesday at the Church of the Nazarene.
Memorial contributions may be made out to the Upper Sandusky Church of the Nazarene and can be sent to Lucas-Batton at 476 S. Sandusky Ave. Upper Sandusky, OH 43351.
