Eddie Dean Shepherd, age 71, of Marseilles, Ohio, passed away on Thursday, January 12, 2023 at the Hardin Memorial Hospital, Kenton, Ohio.
Eddie was born on December 15, 1951 in Upper Sandusky, Ohio, to Marson and Mero (Shannon) Shepherd, both of whom are deceased.
He is survived by 3 sisters, Jenny Holdcraft of Upper Sandusky, Brenda Swavel of Upper Sandusky, and Eva Steffanni of Mansfield, and a brother, Bill (Lil) Shepherd of Forest, along with many nieces and nephews.
Eddie was preceded in death by brothers, Dan, Arnold, Dave, and Herschel, and a sister, Mavis, and his loving companion for many years, Sandy Thacker.
He attended Upper Sandusky Schools and went on to serve our country in the US Army during the Vietnam War.
Eddie worked for a time for the former Rockwell International in Kenton, and for many years he did repair service out of his home.
He was an avid Denver Bronco football fan and he enjoyed going to Mile High Stadium for a few games over the years. Eddie also enjoyed working and collecting classic cars, especially the Chevy Nova, and going to flea markets.
Eddie will be remembered for his neighborly way, always willing to lend a helping hand to family and friends, and to those outside his circle, having given throughout the years to St. Jude’s Children Hospital.
Visitations will be held on Saturday, January 21, from 11:00am to 1:00pm at Lucas Batton Funeral Home in Upper Sandusky.
A graveside service for Eddie Dean Shepherd will be held at 1:30pm Saturday, January 21, 2023 at the Chandler Cemetery with Rev. Scott Moore officiating. Eddie’s military service will be recognized and honored by the Upper Sandusky Color Guard following prayers at the cemetery.
