Sandra Kay Lucas

Sandra K. Lucas, age 76, of Marion, Ohio, passed away on Monday, February 15, 2016 at Marion General Hospital, Marion, Ohio. 

Sandra was born on July 23, 1939 in Marion, Ohio, to Elbert J. and Lillian M. (Malo) Smith, both of whom are deceased.  She married John G. Lucas on June 28, 1959 in Marion, and he passed away on August 29, 2013.

She is survived by a son, Timothy (Stormee) Lucas of Marion, 2 daughters, Tammy Sue (Jay) Messenger, and Wendy Kaye (Allen) Imbody, both of Marion.  7 grandchildren, Josiah Lee (Angie) Stanforth, Valerie Kaye (Aron) Rinehart, Levi Russell (Darci) Messenger, John Jacob (Amber) Lucas, Ethan Allen Lucas, Nathan (Jeanie) Imbody, and Kyle Imbody, along with 13 great grandchildren.

Sandra is also survived by a sister, Linda (Delmar) Lucas of Marion.

She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, and a daughter Kimberly Marie Lucas.

Sandra had worked at the former Community Nursing Center and then East Lawn Manor, as the Activities Director at both facilities.  After her retirement, she continued to work part time as a baker at Perkin’s in Marion, and during the season for Crum Strawberry Farms, at their wagon locations in Marion.

She was a lifelong member of the First United Church of Christ in Marion, where she was active in the Care Closet Ministry and the monthly meals at the church. 

Sandra enjoyed for hobbies include doing ceramics, traveling, spending time with her sister and family once a month for lunch, and her daily visit to her McDonalds.

She will be remembered for her strong faith, and her love for others, especially her children and grandchildren. 

Funeral services for Sandra K. Lucas will be held at 2:00pm Friday, February 19, 2016 at the First United Church of Christ in Marion, with the Rev. Gale Green officiating.  Burial will follow at Grand Prairie Cemetery.

Visitations will be held on Thursday, February 18, from 5:00pm to 8:00pm at the First United Church of Christ in Marion.
