Russell “Shorty” Briggs, age 71, of Little Sandusky, Ohio, passed away on Tuesday, June 26, 2018 at 10:13pm at his home surrounded by family and friends.
Shorty was born on August 9, 1946 in Duncansville, Pennsylvania to Charles and Olive (Treaster) Briggs.
He is survived by his son, Jeremy (Tessa) Briggs, three grandsons: Bryce, Caleb and Jackson Briggs and his partner in life for many years, Anita Mouser of Harpster. Two sisters: Dolly (Roy) Bohn of State College, Pennsylvania, Betty (Bob) Kelley of Bucyrus, Ohio and a brother, Butch (Mary) Briggs, of Huntington, Pennsylvania also survive.
He was preceded in death by his parents, a granddaughter, Lyndsey, and a brother, Bill Briggs.
Shorty was a truck driver in his early years, working for Gibson Trucking. He then worked for McCarthy Corporation for 27 years and then for Olen Corporation until his retirement.
He attended Little Sandusky Bible Church, and was a member of the Wyandot County Antique Tractor Association, Moose Lodge 1093 in Upper Sandusky, and Wyandot County Pheasants Forever.
He greatly enjoyed his Allis Chalmers antique tractors, with his true passion being that of farming. He most of all, loved spending time with his grandsons.
Graveside services for Russell “Shorty” Briggs will be private and held at Little Sandusky Cemetery.
A Celebration of Life Service will be held at 5:30pm on Monday, July 2, 2018 at the Little Sandusky Bible Church with Blaine Watkins officiating.
Following the service there will be a time of fellowship at the church, with the family’s wish that the attire for the day be casual.
Memorial contributions may be made to the Pitt Twp. Volunteer Fire Department or to Pheasants Forever Youth Program and can be sent to Lucas-Batton Funeral Home, 476 S. Sandusky Ave., Upper Sandusky, Ohio 43351.
