Ronald O. “Ron” Mong, age 77, of Upper Sandusky, Ohio, passed away on Sunday, August 5, 2018 at the Ohio State University Wexner Medical Center in Columbus, Ohio.
Ron was born on December 30, 1940 in Union City, Ohio to LaDon O. and Clarice Jeanette (Flory) Mong, both of whom are deceased. He married Sharon L. Young on September 25, 1964 at the E.U.B. Church in Union City, and she survives in Upper Sandusky.
He is survived by his 3 daughters: Kimberly Matheny of Columbus, Shelly (Tony) Secoy of Upper Sandusky, and Beth Riedlinger of Sycamore. 3 grandchildren, Aden Matheny, Nick Riedlinger and Seth Riedlinger and 2 great grandchildren, Hunter and Eli Riedlinger.
Ron is also survived by his sister, Janet Hunley of Indianapolis, Indiana.
He was preceded in death by his parents, and a brother Donnie Mong.
Ron was a 1958 graduate of Jackson City High School, and went on to receive
his bachelor’s degree in education from Bowling Green State University, and continued his education with his master’s degree in Industrial Technology from Colorado State University.
Ron was an Industrial Arts Teacher in the Upper Sandusky School System for 17 years. He also was the owner since 1979, of Ron Mong Remodeling, along with working at Pfeifer Hardware, both in Upper Sandusky.
He was a member of Community Christian Center in Upper Sandusky since the beginning of the church in 1984. He served the church as an Elder and in many other capacities.
Ron was also a member of the Rod and Gun Club in Upper Sandusky, Mid West Ohio Industrial Arts Association, where he held offices as a treasurer, secretary and president, and was a past member of the Full Gospel Business Men’s Association.
For hobbies he enjoyed fishing, target shooting, working with stain glass and leather, and woodworking.
Funeral services for Ron Mong will be held at 11:00am Friday, August 10, 2018 at the Community Christian Center in Upper Sandusky with Pastor Bill Williamson officiating. Burial will follow at Old Mission Cemetery.
Visitations will be held on Thursday, August 9, from 2-4pm and 6-8pm at the Lucas-Batton Funeral Home in Upper Sandusky, and 1 hour before service time
at the church on Friday.
