Joan Craig, 93, of Marion, Ohio, passed away on Thursday, August 9, 2018 at 8:38pm at the Marion General Hospital, Marion, Ohio.
She was born on July 13, 1925, in Monticello, Indiana, and was raised by Ward and Gladys Holloway, who were her uncle and aunt. She married Morris W. Craig on October 13, 1946, and he passed away October 31, 2017.
Joan is survived by her 2 sons: Ralph (Ruth Ann) Craig of Marion, David (Rosemary) Craig of Morral. 7 grandchildren: Commander Andrew (Karla) Craig of Fallon, Nevada, Russell (Jennifer) Craig of Upper Sandusky, Cindy (Pat) Frey of Columbus, Jennifer Hansford of Upper Sandusky, Matt (Jessica) Craig of Morral, Sean (Nikki) Starner of Marion, and Angie (Aaron) Sample of Lexington Park, Maryland. 16 great grandchildren: Kaylee, Keagan, Jonathon, Joshua, and Alex Craig, Dominic, Gabriella, and Cameron Frey, Maci Craig, Cullen and Emilia Craig, Bryce and Whitney Starner, Bennett, Everett, and Graham Sample, along with a sister, Mary Walters of Monticello, Indiana.
She was preceded in death by her husband, and a brother Charles Hiram Ellis.
Joan was a homemaker and served as an office manager for the former Morral Oil Company, Englefield Oil Company, both in Morral, and Pfeiffer Oil in Marion.
She was a long time member of the Prospect St. United Methodist Church in Marion, where she served as a Lay Leader and was active with various activities and groups within the church.
Joan also served on the Ridgedale School Board for many years, and also was inducted
into the Ridgedale FFA. She also received many awards for her archery ability competing along with her husband Morris.
For hobbies, she enjoyed raising flowers, gardening, cooking, sewing and traveling.
Funeral services for Joan Craig will be held at 10:30am Friday, August 17, 2018 at the Prospect St. United Methodist Church in Marion, with Rev. Joseph Miller officiating.
Visitations will be held on Thursday from 4:00pm to 7:00pm at the Prospect St. United Methodist Church and 1 hour before service time on Friday.
