James T. Johnson, age 83, of Upper Sandusky, Ohio, passed away on Tuesday, September 11, 2018 at 12:09pm in the Emergency Room of Wyandot Memorial Hospital.
He was born on April 22, 1935 in Grand Forks, North Dakota to Henry and Helen (Hokenson) Johnson, both of whom are deceased. He was once married to Betty Jean Walker of Lansdale, Pennsylvania.
James is survived by 3 children: Dusty Johnson of Gainesville, Florida, and a daughter, Elisabeth Susan (Jon) Dewey of Cumberland, Maryland, Jeff Johnson of Reynoldsburg, Ohio. 5 grandchildren: Darla Johnson of Defiance, Ohio, Tiffany (Marcus) Blakely of Clarksville, Tennesee, Echo (Kevin) Tang of Westerville, Eric (Frankie) Johnson of Eugene, Oregon, and Nick Johnson of Gainesville, and 7 great grandchildren.
He was the youngest of 6 brothers, and was preceded in death by his brothers: Kenneth, Ransom, Russell, Morris and Lyle.
James worked at The Timken Company in Bucyrus, Ohio and retired in 1988 after many years. He also enjoyed working on his small farm.
He was a member of Emanuel United Church of Christ in Upper Sandusky, and the Amvets Post #777 in Upper Sandusky.
James was a veteran having served in the US Army at the Nike Missile Base in Edgemont, Pennsylvania.
For hobbies he enjoyed working with horses, harness racing, and in his younger
years, bowling and golfing.
Memorial services will be held on Sunday, September 23, 2018 at 2:00pm at the Emanuel United Church of Christ in Upper Sandusky, with Pastor Jay Scott officiating.
Visitations will be held 1 hour before service time, from 1:00pm to 2:00pm on Sunday at the church.
