Elben “Elrod” D. Adkins, age 56, of Upper Sandusky, Ohio, passed away on Friday, June 7, 2019 at 12:41am at his residence.
Elrod was born on July 4, 1962 in Upper Sandusky, Ohio to his father John W. Adkins, who is deceased, and mother Mary M. Matheny of Upper Sandusky.
He is survived by a daughter Kayla Adkins of Upper Sandusky, a brother Steven D. “Whop” (Robin) Adkins of Upper Sandusky and a sister, A. Jane (Rick) Wood of Upper Sandusky, and his companion Denise Ritter of Upper Sandusky, and many nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his father, and a son, Spencer D. Adkins.
Elben had worked for Todco and Bridgestone, both in Upper Sandusky.
He was a true baseball enthusiast, especially the Cleveland Indians. He also enjoyed NASCAR and following Dale Earnhardt Jr., along with football, especially the Denver Broncos and a diehard fanatic about his OSU Buckeyes.
Visitations for Elben Adkins will be held on Monday, June 10, 2019 from 2:00pm to 6:00pm at the Lucas-Batton Funeral Home in Upper Sandusky. Following the visitation, there will be a celebration at the Boxcar Tavern on Monday.
Memorial contributions may be made to the Family of Elben Adkins Memorial Fund to help with funeral expenses.
Burial will be held at a later date at Old Mission Cemetery in Upper Sandusky.
