Charles (Chuck) Eugene Swihart, age 88, of Upper Sandusky, Ohio, passed away on Tuesday, September 25, 2018.
Charles was born on April 26, 1930 in Harpster, Ohio to Stephen Pike Swihart and Anna Daughmer Swihart, both deceased. On June 8, 1961, he married Virginia (Ginny) R. Albert Bosler and she preceded him in death on December 4, 2015. They were married 54 years. He had two siblings: Mary Frey and Stephen Craig Swihart, both deceased.
Survivors include his children: Patricia (Robert) Burns, Daniel (Irene) Bosler, Barbara Swihart, Kevin (Tina) Swihart, 10 grandchildren: Michael Burns, James Burns; Nate Bosler, Zachary Bosler, and Ariel (Chris) Ferguson; Stephen Swihart, Anthony Schuster, Jordan Schuster, Kahle Swihart, and Channing Swihart, 3 great-grandchildren and numerous nieces and nephews.
Chuck graduated from Harpster High School in 1949. He was in the US Army and served in Japan from 1954 to 1956. He was a farmer for the majority of his life. He also worked at Continental/Hydraulic Hose for many years and retired from there. He was the founder of Hilltop Lawnmower which he ran from the top of the hill on his farm in Nevada for many years and had a booth at the Wyandot County Fair for most of those years. He did these three jobs during the same time period until he retired. He was active in the Nevada Lion’s Club for 20 years and was past President of the Wynford School Board. He had been active in more recent times with his antique tractors. He was a long time member of John Stewart United Methodist Church and met his wife Ginny there. He was devoted to his family and always offering advice, even at the end.
Services will be held at 11:00 am Saturday, September 29, 2018 at the John Stewart United Methodist Church in Upper Sandusky with Pastors Brian Arnold and Dan Bosler officiating. Burial will follow at Nevada Cemetery.
Visitation will be 2:00 to 4:00 pm and 6:00 to 8:00 pm Friday, September 28, 2018 at John Stewart United Methodist Church and one hour prior to the service on Saturday at the church.
