Robert E. "Bob" Roberts

Robert E. “Bob” Roberts, age 90, of Morral, Ohio, passed away on Tuesday, November 15, 2016 at 6:15pm at the Fairhaven Community in Upper Sandusky.

Bob was born on April 12, 1926 in Marion County to Wesley and Estella (Kern) Roberts.  He married U. Maxine Retterer on September 1, 1946 in the Epworth Methodist Church in Marion, and she passed away on October 29, 2006.

He is survived by a son Keith (Sheila) Roberts of Morral, and two daughters, Bev (Tom) Kennedy of Marion, and Marla (Greg George) Roberts of Rochester, New York.  Five grandchildren: Lt. Col. Brian (Lauren) Roberts of Shreveport, Louisiana, Wesley (Mandy) Roberts, Morral, Kyle (Emily Wang) of New Taipei City, Taiwan, Chelsea (Bill Mertz) Kennedy of Falls Church, Virginia, and Matthew George of Rochester, along with six great grandchildren.    

Bob is also survived by his brother Donald (Sheila) Roberts of Marion.

He was preceded in death by his parents, wife, and a brother, Chester “Sam” Roberts.

Bob was a third generation farmer having farmed his entire life in the Morral area, where he was committed to improving the land that he farmed to protect and improve it for future generations.

He was a member of the Morral United Methodist Church and was a 1944 graduated from Morral High School.

For hobbies Bob enjoyed flying his Cessna, boating and fishing, and traveling with his wife Maxine, throughout the United States and Europe.

He also enjoyed helping his community, friends and neighbors in everything from building the Ridgedale football field, serving on Boards, to repairing a child's broken toy. He will be greatly missed.

Funeral services for Bob Roberts will be held at 11:00am Saturday, November 19, 2016 at the Lucas-Batton Funeral Home in Upper Sandusky, with Rev. David L. Hoffman officiating.  Burial will follow at Grand Prairie Cemetery.

Visitations will be held on Friday from 3:00pm to 8:00pm at the Lucas-Batton Funeral Home in Upper Sandusky.
