Marvin R. Thiel

Marvin Richard Thiel of Kirby, Ohio passed away on Friday May 27, 2016. He was fifty-five years old.

                Marvin was born on August 26, 1960 in Upper Sandusky, Ohio to Richard J. Thiel and Dolores B. (Kuntz) Thiel, both of whom are deceased. He married Vicki M. Frey on July 14, 1980 and they had two children, a surviving son, Travis Richard (Katie) Thiel of Upper Sandusky and a surviving daughter Kelle Maree (Tyson) Saull of Upper Sandusky. Marvin and Vicki later divorced but remained friends. Marvin is also survived by four grandchildren, Ava Maree Saull, Taylor Leigh Saull, Samuel Isidore Saull and Dylan James Thiel.

                Marvin is further survived by his (triplet) brothers, Martin William Thiel of Upper Sandusky and Mark Edward (Maraline) Thiel of Carey, Ohio and two sisters, Ruth Ann Sopher-Stansbery of Upper Sandusky and Barbara Rose Thiel of Kirby, as well as several nieces, nephews, and two aunts.

                Marvin was a member of the Transfiguration of the Lord- St. Mary’s Chapel in Kirby and the Knights of Columbus #2050 in Upper Sandusky.

                Marvin enjoyed playing euchre, watching “Reba” and playing Bingo. In his younger years, he was an avid fisherman, hunter and talented artist. His greatest joy was spending time with his family, especially his children and grandchildren.

                He brought joy to all those who met him and he was loved beyond words. He will be greatly missed.

                A mass of Christian Burial will be held Thursday, June 2, 2016 at 11:00 a.m. at the Transfiguration of the Lord, in Upper Sandusky with Reverend J.R. Hadnagy OFM Conv. Burial will follow at St. Mary’s Cemetery in Kirby.

                A visitation will be held on Wednesday, June 1,  2016 from 2:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. at the Lucas-Batton Funeral Home in Upper Sandusky, with a Scripture Service to be held at 7:30 p.m.

                Memorial contributions may be made to the Multiple Sclerosis Society of Wyandot County and can be sent to Lucas-Batton Funeral Home, 476 South Sandusky Avenue, Upper Sandusky, Ohio, 43351.
