Joseph L. Seitz, age 85, of Upper Sandusky, Ohio, passed away on Wednesday, February 21, 2018.
Joe was born on March 4, 1932 in Olena, Ohio to Clarence and Mable (Sharp) Seitz, who are both deceased along with his step-father Jay Gamble. He married the love of his life, Mary L. Riedy on May 30, 1950, and she survives.
He is survived by his children: Debbie (Doug) Lehman of Upper Sandusky, Steve (Sue) Seitz of Upper Sandusky, Dave (Jill) Seitz of Findlay, Mary Jo (Tom) Runfola of Columbus, Michelle Seitz of Lewis Center, and Sandy Kin of Lewis Center. 9 grandchildren: Nathan (Carree) Lehman, Matthew (Tegan) Lehman, Andrew (Emily) Lehman, Dan (Nicole) Seitz, Cory (Miranda) Seitz, Michael (Deborah) Seitz, Emily Seitz, Aaron Seitz, and Adam Seitz, along with 12 great-grandchildren and 1 on the way.
Joe was a 1949 graduate of Sandusky High School and went on to attend The Ohio State University.
He owned and operated CMC Investments and Joseph L. Seitz Financial Services.
Joe was a member of Community Christian Center in Upper Sandusky, where he served for many years as an elder and treasurer.
Joe served many years on the Upper Sandusky Tree Commission and Wyandot CARES.
For hobbies, Joe enjoyed nature of all kinds, especially watching and feeding birds. He loved to read, and in his younger years, he enjoyed playing tennis, and boating and fishing on Lake Erie.
Joe will be remembered for his loving devotion to his wife Mary, the love of his life, who he met when he was 15, and his love for his children and grandchildren,and for his faithfulness to the Lord.
Joe was adored by his family, admired by his friends, and touched many lives. He will be greatly missed!
Funeral services for Joseph L. Seitz will be held at 11:00am on Monday, February 26, 2018 at Community Christian Center in Upper Sandusky, officiated by Pastor Bill Williamson, and assisted by his granddaughter, Pastor Emily Seitz. Burial will follow at Old Mission Cemetery.
Visitation will be held on Sunday, February 25, from 1:00pm to 6:00pm at the Lucas-Batton Funeral Home in Upper Sandusky, and 1 hour before service time at the church on Monday.
