Irven E. Kieffer, age 96, of Upper Sandusky, Ohio passed away on Sunday, January 28, 2018 at 11:19pm at the Fairhaven Community in Upper Sandusky.
Irven was born on January 8, 1922 in Nevada, Ohio to Harley and Cuba (Comstock) Kieffer, both of whom are deceased. He married Barbara Larcomb on October 28, 1944 in Monroe, Michigan and she passed away on December 11, 2010.
He is survived by his daughter, Kathy (Frank) Stecker of Dearborn, Michigan, 2 grandchildren Kimberly (Greg) Everly and Anitra Coomer and great grandchildren, Shay Kostin, Bryce, Mason and Rory Everly.
Irven was preceded in death by his parents, wife, a son, Steven Kieffer, and a brother Arden.
Irven was a farmer and retired from State of Ohio Communication Department.
He was a 1940 graduate of Eden High School and went on to serve his country during World War II in the Army serving as a clerk under General Douglas MacArthur.
Irven was a long time active member of Trinity United Church of Christ in Upper Sandusky, having served as a deacon and on consistory. He was a 50 year member and past Worshipful Master of Warpole Lodge #176 F&AM in Upper Sandusky. Past High Priest of McCutchen Chapter #96, Royal Arch Masons. Past Illustrious Master of Upper Sandusky Council #98, Royal and Select Masons. Past Eminent Commander of Marion Commandery #36, Knights Templar. Member of Ohio Prior #18, Knights of the York Cross of Honour. Member of Warpole Chapter #366, OES, Member of the Ancient Accepted Scottish Rite, Valley of Toledo. Member of Zenobia Shrine in Toledo, and Past Sovereign Master of Firelands Council, Allied Masonic Degrees.
He was also a member of the American Legion Post #225, and Amvets #777, both of Upper Sandusky.
For hobbies, Irven enjoyed flying, golfing and traveling with his wife, Barbara, throughout the world.
A memorial service for Irven E. Kieffer will be held at 2:00pm, Sunday, February 25, 2018 at Trinity U.C.C. in Upper Sandusky with Rev. Brad McKibben officiating. Military rites will be conducted outside the church immediately following the service.
Visitations will be held 1 hour before service time on Sunday at the church with a Masonic Memorial Service to be held prior to service time.
