Dorothy Mae Iles Ritterspach, 86, went to be with the Lord on Thursday, January 14, 2016, at home in Colleyville, Texas.


She was born May 7, 1929 in Upper Sandusky, Ohio, and was the youngest of 8 children growing up in Upper Sandusky, to the late Jay and Eva (King) Iles. She met and married Wayne Ritterspach October 20, 1952 and they raised their family in Findlay, Ohio before moving to Texas in 1976. They were married nearly 35 years when Wayne passed away on June 23, 1987.

 

Dorothy is survived by a son Jim (Amanda) Ritterspach of Jenera, OH and a daughter, Vicki (Ken) Smith of Colleyville, TX.  5 grandchildren, Brenda Nye, Lisa (Drew) Dean, Jim Smith, Kevin Smith, and Kyle Smith, 4 great-grandchildren, Alex Dean, Jason Dean, Rayanne Nye, and Rachel Nye, and a great-great-granddaughter, Audrey Dean. Along with a host of nieces, nephews, and extended family members.

 

Dorothy was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Wayne; brothers, John Iles, Donald Iles, Jay Iles, Lawson Iles, and Melvin Iles; sisters, Thelma Williamson and Elsie Graham.


Dorothy worked many years in retail and as a medical receptionist.

 

She was a member of Peace Lutheran Church, where she served in the church for almost 39 years.

 

Above all, Dorothy was a loving and devoted wife, mother, and grandmother. She was a faithful and humble servant to her Lord, and served Him with a cheerful and willing spirit. She will be dearly be missed by all.

 

A Memorial Service Celebrating the Life of Dorothy Mae Ritterspach will be held at 11:00am Wednesday, February 3, 2016, at the Lucas-Batton Funeral Home in Upper Sandusky, with the Rev. Joe Trester officiating.  Burial will be at Nevada Cemetery

 

Visitations will be held from 1 hour before service time at the funeral home on Wednesday.

 

Memorial contributions may be made to Peace Lutheran, or the Juvenile Diabetic Research Foundation and can be sent to Lucas-Batton, 476 S. Sandusky Ave. Upper Sandusky, Ohio, 43351.
