Dave Williamson

March 10, 1950 ~ April 24, 2016 (age 66) 66 Years Old

Ira David Williamson, age 66, of Nevada, Ohio, passed away Sunday, April 24, 2016 in the Emergency Room of Bucyrus Community Hospital in Bucyrus.

 

Dave was born on March 10, 1950 in Portland, Tennessee to Ira B. and Ima J. (Griffith) Williamson.  His father is deceased and mother is living in Bucyrus.  He married Susan Kepler on July 29, 1976 in Titusville, Florida and she survives in Nevada.

 

He is also survived by a son Brian Williamson of Nevada, and a daughter, Sarah (Benito) Pablo of Pataskala, Ohio, along with 2 granddaughters, Gabby and Sophia Pablo.

 

Dave is survived by a sister Jeanette Parker of Bucyrus, and a brother, Paul (Tammy) Williamson of Louisville, Kentucky, and a special niece Georgia Sanders.

 

He was preceded in death by his father, and a son James Williamson.

 

Dave was a 1968 graduate of Bucyrus High School and went on to graduate from the Columbus School of Broadcasting.  He went on to become a disc jockey for WBCO in Bucyrus, and then spent the next 26 years for the former Shunk Manufacturing-Paper Calmenson & Co. in Bucyrus, Ohio.

 

He was a long time member of the Nevada United Methodist Church in Nevada, were he was active with the Saturday Morning Men’s Group and served as a former Lay Leader, and also participated with the Men’s Emmaus in Wooster.

 

Dave was a gifted poet and was a member of the United Poetry Plus in Lansing, Michigan where he was recognized as a Poet Laureate.

 

He also enjoyed spending time with family and friends, especially his

granddaughters.

 

Funeral services for Dave Williamson will be held at 1:30pm Thursday, April 28, at the Nevada United Methodist Church, with Rev. Dennis Laferty and Rev. Matt Garrabrant officiating. Burial will take place at Broken Sword Cemetery.

 

Visitations will be held on Wednesday, from 5:00pm to 8:00pm at the Lucas-Batton Funeral Home in Nevada and 1 hour before service time at the church on Thursday.

 

The family has requested that Cleveland Browns attire for visitations and services.

 

Memorial contributions may be made to Nevada U.M.C. or the Wyandot County Humane Society and can be sent to Lucas-Batton, 401 S. Main St. Nevada, OH  44849.
